My role in the play is quite complex, considering the fact that I actually play two very different characters. Because of that I had some difficulties with the outfits, but it came out right in the end. The language required for this type of play is very complex, in order to better underline the education of some people from that period. (Talking about Just Half Shakespeare)

What can I say about my role? I liked Arnie from the very beginning, from the moment when I read the first prompts of my character. The role was a great experience to me as I was supposed to learn the Shakespearian language and pronunciation, which is not as easy as it seems. What I also like about my character is her naivety and stupidity sometimes, things that make her be funny and that turn some parts of the play into a real comedy...(Talking about Just Half Shakespeare)

“YOUTH”, is a role close to my age and that’s why I think I can play better than I would play a different part. One of the greatest problems with this role was speaking with a British accent and even thou I don’t quite master it, I feel that I have made considerable efforts regarding this specific area. The atmosphere on the stage doesn’t resemble to those many rehearsals when the real person had to practice what he had learned: the complicated Shakespearian language, the proper position and pronunciation and moreover the knowledge of loving Cupid in order to understand him. In the end playing the role of Cupid proves to be more than just acting; it starts to become my free time, my desire of perfectly understanding him and Shakespeare. Acting in a play can be a real instigation. Firstly, seeing another person on stage, in front of an audience, can be hard sometimes, especially if you are not such a sociable and easygoing person. Performing the play in a different language can also cause troubles. You have to work hard, in order to have the correct pronunciation and a good accent. But, if you really like acting, then you can pass all the obstacles and have a good performance. (Talking about Just Half Shakespeare)

Acting as Death? That was not only something new for me, but strange as well and I could even say unique. At first, I felt frightened by this role, because I am completely different outside the role and because Death is immaterial, impalpable, it has no specific shape, nor physical presence.
However, now I enjoy being the Death who scares the poet ... (Talking about Just half Shakespeare)

Interpreting a role is many times considered to be a pleasure, a simple game. What can be more difficult than to challenge your own self, to get at the outmost of your experience, to test your limits? Theatre can be truly demanding. There are however reliable motivations and the joy of receiving applauses and attention cannot be expressed in words. Life would be senseless without its salt and pepper. Human beings would rest in an eternal state of ignorance. So what better field to chose to explore your inner self than the never ending world of theatre?

Acting is like an escape from our real life, as if we had the chance to be another person, to live in another life probably a better one where all the daily problems are forgotten. If we put together the emotions, the feelings and the talent we have for acting we can create a character that will receive the applauses of the audience and that cam make you famous. Even if a lot of time is lost with rehearsals ….in the end the costumes, the audience and the other characters(the fellows) and the general atmosphere give you a sort of strange happiness and self confidence and this magic feeling is worth all the effort in the end.

Loona is a vivid character. I love her a lot. She is crazy, she is funny and of course nobody likes her... For her the only things that matter in life are smile, joy and freedom... (Talking about Time Tales)

A hippie in love with his guitar , Ethan is hot-headed, ambitious but doesn't really care about the people around him. It's all about him , his guitar and his music, the rest can wait. A new thing for him, he gets excited about his friends' ideas about making a hippie riot and change the world.

In Time Tales I have the role of Simon a guy who is in love with Angela. He thinks about himself he is a good looking guy, with a lot of qualities and almost no defects. He would do anything to save his relation with Angela since she is interested more in her job than in thir relationship. I think Simon is quite silly and he is blinded by his love with Angela. During my time at Liviu Rebreanu National Collage I’ve had the opportunity to be involved in many projects which varied from fund raising to shows done for the sole purpose of entertaining our class mates, however this is the most challenging and exciting endeavour I have embarked upon. I believe the play is one which requires a lot of effort because some parts tend to be abstract, thus making it a bit more difficult, in comparison with other classical plays, but I trust that we have what it takes to do a good job acting it and also it is a very inspiring example of a modern Romanian play, making it even more important.

Three Times Two is a story which builds its ideas upon more than a verbal layer, incorporating all level of perception for a full comprehension of the metaphor. Behind the absurd dialogue which obsessively runs through the same line over and over again, there is a wireframe of a paranoid mind struggling between persecution and insanity, and found it challenging, to merge this broad range of emotions in my acting. The excitement of the set, costumes, scripts, rehearsals is something every man should feel for himself even if only once; it is amazing what performing in front of an audience can do to you, mentally and physically – it is the ultimate challenge of your strengths and weaknesses. The delight of acting is indefinable.

The challenge of theatre is the challenge of spontaneity, cleverness and most importantly self-control, not passing out when you don’t have a costume 5 hours before the show, or finding a replacement for a leading part two days before the premiere, as the guy that was supposed to play it has chickenpox (these are not hypothetical situations). For it is both director and actor improvisation that makes it all fun! |

In real life, whenever it comes to pretending a certain role or position, we do it extremely easily, and with no difficulty, but for me, pretending, imitating a role on the stage, really meant a lot, it was more like a provocation. Acting means not only learning a script and presenting it in front of an audience, but it also means putting yourself in the role, and creating details and accessories to go with it.

I took this role as a challenge, thinking that by acting I could discover better myself and test my highest limits. I assumed that on stage I could do all the things I couldn’t do in real life but instead I discovered that acting is much more real than life. I’m really glad I took this chance!

It might sound foolish to say that acting is an thrill you get when everyone is staring at you and tries to understand who you are, why are you there and what you have to say. It’s a wonder to create a character, to be someone else rather than express your own feelings towards an idea. The pleasure you get at being on stage, the nerves you hide inside are the flavor of acting. Acting is a tug and that is the key to success. |
For me, this role represents the opportunity to show another face of mine and, in the same time to discover abilities that I have never expected to have. Moreover, I can improve my language skills, and meet new people.
This is the possibility to have a new life, during the preparation of the role. |

A role is like a piece of garment. It has to suit you perfectly, or else, the auditorium will feel the difference. As to me, I believe that my part in this play was really the right one for me. The mysterious ways of my character, and her sense of grace and delicacy were things that I fell in love with instantly. However, giving life to a being that was already existing in my head, proved to be harder that I would have expected.
When faced with the scene, my plans of how to act, and what costume to wear seemed always so far from my real performance.
It truly is hard to be credible, but the trial is what makes acting so wonderful |
